Overview

This project involved the complete renewal of a roof that, despite being only 17 years old, had suffered from poor original workmanship. The roof's condition had deteriorated far more quickly than anticipated due to several underlying issues. Upon thorough inspection, we found that the latt gauges had been overstretched, causing strain on the structure, and a critical mistake in the original design—no ventilation system had been installed. This led to excessive moisture buildup in the roof space, causing the roof to sweat and ultimately accelerate its deterioration, long before it should have.

To rectify the situation, we fully stripped and rebuilt the entire roof area. Our first priority was to ensure the structural integrity of the roof by installing a breathable felt membrane, which would allow the roof to remain dry and prevent moisture buildup. We then re-installed the latts with correct spacing, ensuring that each component of the roof was aligned with industry best practices. New Sandtoft tiles and ridges were fitted to ensure durability and enhance the roof's aesthetic appeal.

Additionally, we introduced a proper airflow system, which had been sorely missing in the original design. This system allows the roof to 'breathe,' preventing any future moisture buildup, and ensuring long-term protection against the elements. With these significant improvements, we were able to deliver a robust, long-lasting roof that meets the highest standards of modern roofing practice. The result is a secure, durable structure that will serve its purpose for many years to come, providing peace of mind to the property owner.
